Silk Road #5 ~ Ya Dan Geological Park

National DunHuang Ya Dan (雅丹)Geological Park of Gansu, which is called "Devil City" is located deep into the desert. About 180km away from the city of DunHuang.

The main body of miraculous Yadan Landform was formed by flood alluviam and lake alluviam of the Cenozoic Era millions years ago.

Yadan is a natural museum of sculpture art. It's also a precious treasure granted to the mankind by the nature, non-reproduced geological heritage.

Silk Road #4 ~ Desert / Sand Dunes

We took overnight soft sleeper train from XinJiang Province to Gansu Province - DunHuang City.

Our spot light for the Day 7 ~~ Mingsha Sand Dunes and the crescent spring ( The UNESCO WHS )

The Sand Dunes is located at DunHuang City, about 5-8 minutes drive from our hotel and the city !!!

You'll never imagine there is a desert inside the city.

The paved road and the sand dunes.

Ok... forget about the city.

We were walked on the tip edge-line of the sand dunes.
Move our heavy footsteps ....not easy to walk on the sand.

Can you see the little tiny people ?
Then, you'll know how high was us.

How to going down ???

(actually we slide down)

There is another name for the sand dune , i.e. Singing Mountain.
You'll hear the moving sand enchoes.
I collected some sand for journal.

The famous Crescent Lake.
The sand dunes embraces a lake in shape of a half moon.
( There was spring underneath the lake )

Another end of the lake.

The temple

Journal Page of the Old Ancient Tree that was there many many years ago.

Serendipity and Synchronicity

The Sky and Earth

This month, Kathryn posted a prompt of Serendipity & Synchronicity in True North Art.

The colourful 12 Zodiac wheel ( some sort similar to concept of 'Luo Pan').
I found it in my drawer, the Chinese New Year card that I received last year.

( Kindly scroll to end of the post for the meaning of 'Luo Pan' / Chinese Compass)

I realised that in most of the time, where I played in prompt / challenge, I'll allow / let my inner soul guide me to what the pages supposed to be.
I never anticipated what will be the final page look like.
However, I plan before but for sure the final page will not look alike what I had planned ~~ by added of some paints, ephemera, doodles, & etc.

I'm not too sure whether shall I call this SERENDIPITY and SYNCHRONICITY.

The Luo Pan / Chinese Compass

Luo means a net that encompasses everything and Pan means utensil or plate.
This allegorically refers to the union of Heaven and Earth and specifically to the electro magnetic field that holds all matter together.

Luo Pan is a very important tool to Feng Shui masters. Feng Shui masters need to use the Luo pan in their evaluation. The Luo pan is used to help them to determine the direction and orientation of buildings, rooms, furnitures, sites etc.

The different levels of feng shui information are contained in each ring of a Luo Pan.
